G'day Ant
After a committee meeting on Sunday to discuss the event of December 4, the following suggestions were put forward for consideration.
The time for the event has been shortened on the basis that it may be difficult to entertain the 34 kids currently registered for the event for up to three and a half hours waiting for Santa. Therefore the time has been cut back and Santa will arrive at 2:45pm. Starting time is still 12 noon and we would like to have everyone in position ready for the onslaught.
We have selected a location for the face painting but we are unsure of what Ruby Bloomers require. We have chose an outdoor area at the front of the hall for face painting. This area is a terraced fire place, sheltered by trees. We also thought an outdoor area may be suitable for Ruby Bloomers and I would like to discuss this with you.
The robots and costumed crew can operate inside the hall but there is an asphalt area with a slope away from the street that may be able to be used as well. I guess it will be a case of sorting things out upon arrival.
Pam has told you about the activity she has chosen and that will also be outside, under a tarpaulin. I thought it best to keep it as simple as possible. One of the grandfathers may bribg a cricket set for the older kids and if no one is using the oval, they could have a bit of a play there, but that will be an ad hoc arrangement.
At around 2:15pm the magic show will start in the hall and last about 20minutes after which Santa will make his appearance. I would like to think that the bots and/or costumed folk could assist as "Santa's helpers" and call out the names of the kids to come up to Santa and hand Santa the gift to be passed on.
I am trying to arrange a photographer to take images of each presentation which if successful, will be forwarded to each child's nominator at a later date.
The working bee plans to be at the hall early, as we need to make sure the hall (and toilet) is clean, bring all the stuff from the Northbridge Masonic Centre where it will be stored in readiness.
It has been decided that we will donate $100 to Ruby Bloomers to cover the cost of transport, $200 to the robot/costume group and $100 to defray the costs of materials & travelling for the face painter. I trust this meets with everyone's approval.
I have attached the flyers sent out to advertise the occasion and a couple of photos of the hall and surrounding area. Scout Hall 1- is the interior of the hall; Scout Hall 2 - is an image of the inside of the hall (mainly the kitchen) looking toward the front door; Scout Hall 3 - is the fire pit, and is really closer to the hall than it looks in this image; Scout Hall 4 - is the asphalt area. The Scout hall is on the right hand side and the barbeque will be set up on the right hand side of the entrance to the hall. The activity will take place on the side wall of the hall towards the front, under a tarpaulin. The area we suggest for the Bloomers is out of shot on the left hand side but is a level picnic area with grass and concrete. The only drawback with this site is chance that there may be picnickers but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. Behind Andrew's head is another small grassed area and beyond that is Northbridge Oval and cricket practice nets.
The Scout hall is located next to Northbridge Public School and there is a council car park just past the Scout hall on the same side of the street.
If there is anything you need to know or want to ask - please do so now, as it will make for a better show and that's what it's all about.

EVENT REPORT - Forest Lodge Kids Christmas

What a weekend, well a week really. As usual it hits the Chrisy time and Events go mad. Anyway today was no execption, we arrived at the location at Northbridge just to unload and then get hit by a storm, with lightning and thunder. It bucketted down. Then moved into a rainy and very windy day. I felt sorry for those stalls set up outside that eventually just had to give up fighting the wind. But we all heading indoors and the Perty went on. The Droid and Dalek were a hit as usual, and Vader of course made his apearance just before Santa.
Lots and lots of happy kids and parents, despite the weather the event came off well.
Thank you to Ant and Jules for getting this troop together, and to Mark for the R2, we had a great family day out as well as a good troop, this really did cater for all the family.
