Hey guys guess what's back on the troop of troops, it's on Thursday the 1st Decmber doors open around 5 pm and we will be needed at the beginning , it usually goes for close to 4 hours

Dreamnight at the Zoo is an international program which both Taronga and Taronga Western Plains Zoo participate in for children with special health

care needs and children with disabilities. The intent is to give these VIP children and their families a magical time.

Working through children’s charities and support groups a free of charge event is held in the first week of December. Our Charity partners include,

Autism Spectrum, Redkite, The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Ronald McDonald House, Down Syndrome NSW, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Variety,

Starlight Foundation and Camp Quality and selected special schools.

In 2009 450 children and 1,350 people participated in this amazing event. On the night the Zoo also invited celebrities, children’s entertainers, including

The Wiggles, representatives from the Police, Fire Brigade and St John’s Ambulance as well as players from the Sydney Swans, Sydney Roosters, South

Sydney Rabbitohs and Parramatta Eels. There was also over 50 storm troopers from Star Wars parading around the Zoo! Some of the special activities

included face painting, giraffe feeding, bilby feeding, a seal show, a bird show, a variety of animal encounters and special tours. Guests were also

treated to Erth Dinosaur encounters and a Christmas Show to finish the night. All kids received their own zoo animal soft toy and a show bag on the way

out.

The night was an amazing success with both Zoos receiving excellent feedback and many thanks with many describing it as the best night of their lives.

The 300 Zoo staff who were all volunteering their time said the kids faces and smiles made it all worthwhile.

In 2011 we are again running this program and have commenced planning. We are exploring options to improve the night and make it even more memorable for the children and family's

We need to be ready to roll by 5pm to welcome the guest as they come in. So that means Ill be getting ready at about 1pm LOL( just kidding ) but I will start close to 3.30pm.We are going to try and get people to use the quieter parts of the zoo,

Ill look into the late commers, as we leave the change area and dont come back until the end , so we may need some wranglers or my work guys to meet you all, Ill figure it out.

There will be multiply groups invited, so if we get double character costumes we will work a roster of some sort so every one gets a turn, expt for Rex as Im greedy LOL and its my show LOL , Im happy to have costumes if they are not aproved as long as they are completed,and look good so if you have a few little things that would hold you back, you can come I SAID, just no soft kmart styles LOL.

I would much prefer to see ep1-6 characters , clonewars characters that most norms and kids will recognise, color variations are fine also, As some of the EU stuff is more scary for the kids, talk to me if thats all have or if you would prefer to be a rebel for the night aka a Jedi please do also we would like light sabres to help usher people out at the end,or torches on buckets.

Oh one more thing NO buckets off in public, unless a kid is freaking out , if your too hot please get out of publics view to remove your bucket.



Oh and we would realy love R2 builders to come and bring there R2 units or R5's LOL

This is a huge troop only 4 hours but its HOT, last time we trooped non stop for 4 hours, as we got ready at the top of the zoo and wandered down throught the Zoo, Im hoping to get another room for us in the middle of the Zoo, for rest bite.


I might be biased but this is probably my best ever troop besides the hospital visits with Suds. We had a trooper last time pause for around 5 minutes due to the tears flowing from under his bucket, a very emotional troop guys and hugely fun.
Its like a big happy Zoo party.

Hi Adam,

Yup – bus parking area is fine. Off Prince Albert street through security gate on Whitting beach road . They can come in to the back of ed centre there. Library is for your use.

Anytime is fine, 5pm is fine – staff briefing on Thursday is at 4:15pm, so that might be nice for them to attend if they can make it earlier – otherwise maybe just you attend the briefing and ‘pass the vibe on’

They need to be ready to walk out and greet at 5:20pm (Event opens at 5:30pm)

Star Wars people will be able to use the Marine Mammals office from 6:15pm (which is about the time they will make it down the hill to that area). If you wanted to drop some stuff off earlier though (light sabers), just radio the marine keepers.

The office door will be ajar.

Otherwise your contact is Jose.

In terms of direction – if they could meet and greet from top plaza downwards – see attached list of things happening – so if they could all be aware of this program and maybe ensure guests are guided to these things, not strictly though!! Guests can do what they want. Haha
