Geoff you did a great job yesterday in gear and with sabres, well done.
Sorry but the heat killed me, got some good photos of it. As it I think was its first time of this event there maybe things they might change, and your right having a tent would be an option for this, although the heat is a consideration.
We can possibly use the bbq after next kidflix to discuss, but thatll be a seperate thread, (Paul your thoughts?)

Different Paul replying here but I'll just add this:
They needed to give us slight;y more notice. They also asked the R2 group to attend
but it was with very little notice again. Yes, we were initially asked a couple of months
prior to the event but final confirmation didn't happen until only a week or two before so
that didn't help with proper organisation. Things really start to get busy around this time
of year so it was inevitable that people wouldn't be able to attend (I was one of them
that couldn't). However, we now know more about the event and can plan for a much
bigger attendance next year. The weather will always be difficult at this time of year
but if an indoor location can be organised then perhaps that will help. Of course, the
droids will need to be indoors so we can do another joint table display which will also
provide a base where people's stuff can be stored.

It may be a bit of a problem for the R2's if it's held in the same location next year as it was mainly grass. There was a road/driveway area that was paved they would be able to run around on. The only real indoor area that has some covering is the fire Museum itself so there's always an option too.
I think the first thing advertising we saw out this way was the week before the event and I almost didn't put the two together until I actually read the poster so that would seriously affect attendance I think in addition to the late notice to groups, and the advertisement was fairly limited.
Either way, next year could be pretty cool (or damn hot with this weather)

Good to hear some made it out and well done once again to Geoff for his efforts. This year was not goosd for a lot of people but I am sure next year , as with several events this year it just was not a good time for the groups. Anyway discussion at the BBQ will be more than welcome so please make the effort to come along, it will also be good to say chow to the old place, dont forget to if its hot bring your swimmers and dare I say water squerters.
See you there
Paul OM.
