HEADS UP HEADS UP HEADS UP

Ok I gave some indication that this might be happening and have been talking to those involved in organising it. We have been requested to troop again next Saturday, at the momnet it looks like a 12 noon till about 3pm troop. It will be located in Chatswood.

Now I know it was armour party day so we can do one of a couple of things, we can work on armour in the morning and then go and do the troop in the afternoon, or we can pop the armour party in next month, and meet at chatswood.

I am still waiteing for information from the organiser and will put it up as soon as it is confirmed and we have it confirmed. So if you can make this one, I know it's short notice but it would be good to have the same again, and maybe some of you that could not make it last weekend can get to this one.

Pop your names down below.

We got a lot done at the armour party last month. Lots of armour shaping, head moulding and general fun. I'll be continuing my Tie Pilot build. More smelly glue. Yippee!!! I'll also probably take a run up to Bunnings/Spotlight/Lincraft so if anybody needs stuff, they can come along too...

Well things got underway and a fair bit was achived, we worked on Aileens TK armour and this should be ready to go fairly soon. paul ( FP ) worked on his Tie pilot costume. We opted for chicken burgers for lunch and wound up about 4ish. Just a note for those working wioth Hips/ABS etc, there seems to be two types of glues that seem to be used, the standard plumers glue, now available in clear, and Weldon ( comes in various forms and names ). I ahve had good reports on weldon been used for glueing armour together, most of my armour was glued by plumming glue.

I ahve decided that weldon should be used for plastic to plastic bonding and then use the plumers glue for glueing in webbing etc. PLEASE NOTE: No matter what glue you use, it must be left to harden, dont rush it, also if the section needs to be held in possition do so with great caution. These glues work by melting the plastic and give off fumes, these fumes must be alowed to escape and good ventilation is very importent.

if your going to use a clap type set up, use one that just holds the parts in possition( strong clamps will cause the glue to eat right threw your plastic ) also do not tape/cover the glued section completely with material or masking tape, this will result in a) the glue not setting B) causeing the platsic to go to a putty type substance wich wili not set. it can also produce a hole right threw your plastic.

If you need to tape, use small sections right on the end of the section your trying to glue. putting large sections of tape over the part you are trying to glue is going to end up in a mess. This can also cause unreversable damage.

I will be holding another build day for those interested at the end of October. See event dates.

Great stuff guys, also I use zap a gap CA medium glue, I used it for my Rex nothing else, and it kicked butt, small amounts and bonds super fast , I used clamps and magnets to hold in place , it produces fumes so u need to ventilate well , seriously it bonds with in a minute two or three if u use to much. The guy who makes oscs and Jevs clone ,armor recommended this to me and I haven't looked back , it is also clear ,
Cheers
