Hope you guys got more viewing than we did all the way out here last night. We found out that the local observatory just down the road from us had their family night too, however those pesky clouds got in the way and eventually no one could see anything. The moon and the Butterfly Cluster looked awesome before then though.
Looks like it was a great night, thanks for the pics.

Friday night was perfect all night, there would ahve been about 20 private scopes on the field for viewing and then two in the main building running into screens. Saturday looked shocking with heavy cloud cover all day, but as the sun went down the sky was totaly clear up untill about 9.30pm ish then it clouded over again, but we had 3 good hours of viewing, there seemed to be more people there Saturday night.
The amount of different types of scopes and sizes was quite amazing.

From Green Point Observatory.
Members,
On behalf of the SASI Committee, I would like to extend my sincere
thanks to those who helped out in preparing for and/or attending the
Public Open Nights held this past Friday and Saturday evenings.
Although attendance figures were well down on what we had hoped for
(approximately 400 in total), I would still classify the nights as a
great success. We enjoyed decent weather conditions (at least until
9pm on Saturday) and our staff at the gate reported that the
visitors were leaving with great big smiles on their faces. Big
thanks also to the members of the Sydney Robot Workshop for
providing what proved to be a great spectacle that was appreciated
by children and adults alike.
The lack of queues meant that our guests received greater personal
attention and spent less time waiting and I believed we made many
friends. I thank each of you for your marvellous efforts and look
forward to your ongoing support. I would also appreciate any
feedback or suggestions that you may be able to provide that could
make our next event even more successful.
Kind regards,
Brendon Bell
