Ok people, we have been invited along with the R2 Builders to two open nights of Astronomy. They would like droids and costumed members to attend to interact with the public and also show visitors how to get around.
It will be on Friday 5th August and Saturday 6th August. From 6pm to 11pm both nights.
Located at Green Point Observatory cnr Green Point and Caravan Head Roads Oyster Bay.
They have invited us to mix with the public and join in in the activities of the night, several telescopes of all types will be available for viewing, hot food and drink etc etc .
Armour and soft costumes welcome, light sabres would be good for showing people about.
If you want more general information call me or email me.
I can transport a few people if they need a life but it will ahve to be organised.
Anyway if your interested please get your name down, there is not much time and R2 guys will have a few droids heading down.

definetely interested i think will do a softie for this one though tinted visor at night nooooooo way XD interested in the lift as well :)

sounds like fun only i cant travel that late at night due to no licence and no way of getting home

LOL Adam, OK I will be doing both nights, due to the friday been a work day I will be trying to head down early to try and avoid the traffic, most likely taking some droids. So if anybody has Friday off and can make a run early friday afternoon you can jump a lift with me if you want. In regards to getting home, I can drop you off at a train station or you can crash here and ill drop you off in the morning to a train.
I will be taking some banners and stuff with me also, and flyers.

Chewie will definately be there, will have no troubles getting there, but if someone could drop me off at a train station after the event it would be appreciated.

ok either my place at around 12.30 would be good, or if you can get to Forestville shops I can pick you up form there, just call me on the mobile when you there. Just let me know which one you would prefer.

Neither location is convenient (I'd have to catch a bus), also I need to find a suit for a costume - so my plan now is to explore Newtown's shops and other places then I'll catch a train to Como and walk to the observatory... aiming to arrive at 5pm.

We went, we saw, we gazed !. Here are some photos of the weekend event. I did not get any for Saturday night, so i anybody wants to add pics here go right ahead. The evening ran from 6pm to 11pm both nights, it was a fairly long event, but we got to talk to a ew people and amilys, and got to learn about the stars, planets etc. There were plenty o people to talk to and several scopes of all kinds to view and chat about.
