Hey Folks,
Does anyone here play Star Trek Online?
If so, what's your thoughts, opinions, etc....
They're doing a sale right now for the game, discount off lifetime subscription as well as some other perks and bonuses, sounds tempting.
I used to be a Trek fan before getting into Star Wars again (I used to be a Star Wars fan when I was a kid), so I guess it goes in cycles.
Anyway....thoughts people?
I've tried the demo, it didn't seem too bad, there's probably more in store if I get the full version obviously.

I played it way back when it first came out and I thought similar. I played the beta, it seemed like it was going to be pretty good, but soon after playing for a month to 2 months, it just got super repeatative, there was not really any pvp and got pretty boring pretty quickly. A mate of mine got the life time subscription pre-release and hasn't played it since ><

Despite a number of complaints about planet sides missions, the content of the game has alway had something new come out every month. If you are after a good space mmo I would recommend EVE online, but Star Trek Online is the next best thing. Also one thing of note, most MMOs that have been out as long Star Trek Online are now starting to go Free to Play, but you pay for the extra content of the game rather than play time. Personally I'm holding out for Star Wars Old Republic which will be the last MMO I will play (I find trooping to be more fun than playing with emo korean teenagers).

STO is <insert your favourite swear words here> abysmally disappointing. I was really excited when I started this only to discover it was repetitive, frustrating, repetitive, bug ridden, and repetitive. Save your money and wait for something else.

LOL, that's a long reply/response.
I've played it a bit, it's not that bad, they've done a lot of patches and added more content since then.
Although one major factor that helps is being part of a decent Fleet, I'm in an Aussie fleet and they're great people so it helps make the game a bit more amusing.

Yes indeed. I posted THEN realised it was over a month since anyone posted in the thread. I quite enjoyed space combat and HATED ground combat. I found that very frustrating. I get peppered with emails from cryptic about all the new content, so hopefully there's a LOT more to do in the game for players now as opposed to when it released. My personal conclusion was that it was just like city of heroes (which cryptic originally made and then duplicated (Champions Online) when they parted ways with NC Soft) with a space skin/models/theme.
If you're still playing, there is a code you can add to your account that will give you (I think) an admiral's costume, or a klingon admirals costume or something. I only vaguely remember what it looked like. I didn't like it so I stuck with my original series science shirt.

I dug it out for you. It's a Wrath of Kahn admiral uniform
