[Qui Gon Tonic]

Hi all,

I am only new to the club, and I am in the process of creating a Qui Gon Jinn costume, and to be honest as time is running out I could really use some help please...

There are only a few items that I need assistance with at the moment as listed below:

1. The Qui Gon Jinn belt buckle thingy, appears to be a double square eye swivel with a piece if squar'ish metal between the swivels. I have a somewhat blury image of this and am happy to supply. With this item, I have tried looking through saddlery shops and a few rigging and boating hardware catalogues, but am not having much joy. The one that Costume Bay has for Obi is not the same, so I cannot use it as it is fixed and the wrong shape. Paul O is trying to get the details of the guy at Paddy's market for me, but if anyone else has some locations or details they can send me I would be very appreciative.

2. Belt pouches, now there are alot out there, but I thought I would check here first before I bother Costume Bay, QGJ has 3 pouches, of which appears to be 2 communication size pouches and one mechanical pouch. Excuse the naming if it is wrong, but I am just trying to be descriptive. I got this information regarding the specific pouches for QGJ from partsofsw, and have confirmed by watching TPM over and over and over and over, I think you get the point. http://forum.novusordo.info/public/style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif

So in short, any information regarding either of these items would really help me out.

Qui-Gon's buckle is really hard to find. Obi-Wan's buckle was taken from a vintage ladies shoe, made in the 20's. I'm not sure what Qui-Gon's was.

It's interesting that you mention the 3 pouches. I was looking at Sideshow Statue called "Duel of the Fates" - the battle with Maul at the end of TPM. The Qui-Gon statue had only 1 pouch on him! It was the communicator pouch. I know he has more pouches because he had to have something to hold his aquata-breather in. He has the same as Obi-Wan.

Also, QGJ wore 12 food capsules - four gold and eight silver. They were made from Staedtler pen lids with a button glued into the open end. The multi-colours didn't come in until AOTC.

The RL site may be helpful with some of the hard to get items. :D

Thanks for the input first of all, it is greatly appreciated.

As to the buckle I will keep looking, as the swivel that I thought it was is wrong! The 2 eyes are fixed to the central square. I am going to call the guy at Paddys today about it.

The food capsules, you say that it should be 4 gold and 8 silver. Are you 100% sure, as the website partsofsw said that it is 12 silver? Now I know you are mr pedantic like myself, that is the only reason I ask. 8)

Also, one last item, not sure if you have responded will check soon, but I hear you may need a lift to BrisNova. As I am the one that Paul O may have mentioned to you that is driving up with him.

I can't remember where I read it, but I heard that four of the capsules were gold. My costume is roughly based of QGJ's so I did mine the same way.

As for the lift to Brisnova - Yeah, Paul told me that I could get a lift with you. That would be greatly appreciated. :D
