Actually you are incorrect, this is not a modified Illusive Concepts. For your information, this is what the IC one looks like:

the head came off the IC. the rest of the parts were made for the case. as such it is a custom job and not an IC.

(Unless there was an extremely damaged one kicking around, or similar...)
I had pondered whether it hadn't used one of the lifemasks that are kicking around for cheap on eBay which are, literally, just the head?

Blur is dead right.
If you wanted to make that display case it would be cheap as. Take a real look at the head.
They have just used one of the life casts from ebay and made the rest up as they went.
Head of Carbonite life cast as seen in display unit
Note this casting is a fairly crappy one. You can often find good ones though. Hands are easy to do yourself.
You don't need it. Stay on Target.... with good stuff.
If anything I think it would be cool to see a Mick in Carbonite.
That would be a fun talking piece too.

The licensed ones are cool but not always.
There are times when you can actually find stuff which is fan made that is BETTER than the licensed prop.
BUT
BETTER means BETTER. Not just good. Must have perfect detail, finish and presence and must kick the butt of any licensed replica of its kind.
I would never own the 1:1 licensed Darth Vader Statue as my own is better, just as no doubt you would never pay $20K for a licensed Boba 1:1. THe stance is good on mannequin but the detail is just not there for us after building and upgrading costumes for years. You can get the Boba mannequin from starfortress on ebay
As for R2. Sideshow are not getting 10K for static prop. Not after Colin and the guys introduced me to a living R2.
The carbonite block is no Alien. It can and has been made by many many fans.
Glad you like the Mick in Carbonite project idea.
Sounds like a lot of fun.

The cost wouldn't be that great as we would only need to get the sculpted splatty bits copied. Front panel. That would give us the essentials then we could build the outer frame and box around it ourselves. It would essentially be a flat panel with the han bits as raised reliefs.
We will need soft silicon mold with fiberglass outer shell. I have done it before. Just make sure you use a TON of mold releasing wax and plenty of PVC mold release agent on the original or it may be a pain to get off.
It will probably need some spot putty and careful tidy up work but it would be a very cool project to play with.
If cost is bearable I am cool with that. My silly spending spree is over but my greed goes on. LOL
Rob
PS we will throw mick in to a block too. LOL
