When I was in Tas imd last year I stayed at the Cosy Cabins

http://www.cosycabins.com.au/

There are two places in Hobart that Cosy Cabins are located, all set catered places, pretty cosy, 6 people to a cabin, a double bed + 4 single bunks.

Its pretty cheap accommodation as its all self catered, but I'm unsure which location (Mornington or Bowen) would be closer to the Con.

Thoughts on this Nick?

Last time Old Ben & i went to Tassie we had loads of trouble finding accommodation in Hobart for friday & saturday all the locals booked it out to go to the markets , they didn't want to travel the 20 minutes home ( too far to go we were told)

May I suggest you get in NOW for the accommodation as it books out early

Tassie a really beaut spot to visit , Mole Creek the really beautiful camping area beside the river and that really great road from there to the top of the mountain to the village with the murals

I'll have to buy another lottery ticket so I can go too

Just got off the phone with the event people.

They're in discussion with Wrest Point about a rate for the convention. He'll let me know as soon as he finds out.

Was in Tassie back in July 07, and didnt have time to check out the caves at Mole creek, was on the way to Cradle Mountain. The scenery is spectacular. Tassie was the first place i had seen echidners in the wild, though they were all dead on the side of the road :)

I had originally booked at the Motel 427, its across the road from the Wrest point, but when those good deal prices were made available i cancelled there and booked at the Wrest Point.

For anyone thinking of heading down and who haven't booked or sorted out a place to stay yet:

Places to Stay:

Motel 429 is just across the road
http://www.motel429.com.au/

Further along back towards the city

http://www.mayfairplaza.com.au/
http://www.grosvenorcourt.com.au/
http://www.woolmersinn.com/
http://www.bluehillshobart.com/

these are a bit of a walk....well... the blue hills best western is about a 15 min walk.

Apart from Motel 429 all the others are VERY near supermarkets, restaurants, and PUBS.

The restaurants in the area vary in cusine tastes. from Fish and Chips and Souvlaki to upmarket chinese

Jamie and I are booked in, ready to go.

There was some confusion over places, and booking agents seem clueless sometimes, but it's all worked out now... phew...

I'm staying at the Grosvenor Court Apartments with the crew from the ACG, so we have a little way to travel, but I'm looking forward to the entire experience! :)
